Pearl Thusi is an actress, best known for her roles in Queen Sono (2020), Catching Feelings (2017), Tremors 5: Bloodlines (2015) and The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency (2009).

Biography[]

Thusi was born on May 13, 1988 in the township of KwaNdengezi in Durban, located in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa.

She spent her early years in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa and returned to the town of her birth, KwaNdengezi in KwaZulu-Natal, where she spent her formative years. She is the eldest of three siblings; Pearl Thusi has two sisters, Prunella who is reportedly coming up in the South African entertainment industry ranks and Pamela Thusi. Pearl Thusi’s mother passed away in 2004.

She attended a number of schools; one of those schools was Pinetown Girls’ High School. Later, she transferred and completed high school in Hammarsdale near Durban. After matriculating, Thusi relocated to Johannesburg and completed a BA in Communications Science at the University of South Africa. In addition, Pearl completed a start-up venture course at the WITS Business School.

In 2012, she joined the SABC1 gossip show The Real Goboza as a co-host, replacing the departed Brenda Ngxoli. In 2013, she played herself in a crossover episode of RGB with the sitcom My Perfect Family. In 2014, she hosted the sixth season of Tropika Island of Treasure, on SABC1. She was also the co-host of the 13th Annual Metro FM Music Awards, alongside Phat Joe.

In March 2016, she left LIVE Amp to host Lip Sync Battle Africa on MTV and e.tv. In the same year, Thusi was cast in the series regular role of CIA recruit and lawyer, Dayana Mampasi on the ABC thriller series Quantico.
